Sound in the Silence - 2015 - Gdansk

Sound in the Silence / Gdańsk, Poland 2015

Gdańsk, Stutthof Memorial, Westerplatte, Solidarność Museum

2015 part four of the project continued in Gdańsk with students and artists from Germany, Poland and Ungary. Artistic Director is Dan Wolf, San Francisco, USA.

Students from Budapest, Hamburg and Legnica met in Gdańsk for an encounter with artists from San Francisco, Budapest, Hamburg and Krakov. The group had guide tours at Westerplatte, Solidarnosc Center and at the memorial Stutthof. With the informations and experience of the historic places they participated in art workshops.
The artistic director is Dan Wolf (ancestor of The Gebrüder Wolf http://www.gebruederwolf.de/de/gebruederwolf.htm). His family biography is connected to Hamburg, to exile as well as to family members killed in concentration camps in East Europe.
The students worked on the themes and topics at school: the attack of the german army in 1939, Westerplatte, the Solidarnosc movement 1980 and it´s influence in 1989. They did research about the first concentration camp in Poland: Stutthof.
An interactive webpage developed by ENRS is used by the participating schools to exchange information and opened a dialogue between the students before the encounter in September. The students wrote documentations and diaries during the workshops. Their text, media and other materials will be part of the documentation of Sound in the Silence 2015.
